The YACHTFISH crews have been super busy all summer long catching some awesome fish in Tampa Bay. Captain Garrett recently took out a group of kids on summer vacation in Saint Petersburg and put them on a trophy Cobia aboard YACHTFISH Fishing Charters. The inshore fishing charters in St. Petersburg and around Tampa Bay continues to be great despite the summer heat. We have been targeting an array of species including:
- Tarpon
- Sharks
- Cobia
- Snook
- Redfish
- Trout
- Mackerel
- Grouper
- Snapper
With all the rain we have been getting in the past few weeks it has helped cool down the water temperatures and keep the fish very active. We have been running early morning charters and early evening trips to capitalize on the cooler temperatures.
Offshore Fishing is Super Strong
The offshore fishing in the Gulf of Mexico remains super strong catching lots of Grouper, Snapper, Amberjack, Tuna and more! Boats have been running anywhere from 30 to 60 miles offshore targeting these fish. This time of year the pelagic species will congregate around springs and wrecks searching for food and can offer some great action on light tackle. Further offshore in the Loop Current, boats have been catching: Marlin, Sailfish, Swordfish, Wahoo, Tuna, and Dolphin around areas of weed lines and temperature breaks. These long runs offshore 80 to 140 miles require a commitment but can be very rewarding if you locate the right water to troll around. Make sure to check your local satellite imagery reports before making the long run offshore to find where the currents are located.
